Key Components
These components are used with employee jobs:
- Employee
- The employee to whom you want to associate a job.
- Job
- The job you want to associate with the specified employee.
- Rate Index
- When there is a range of salary for a job, the value assigned in order to specify the exact rate. This field requires a value (zero is acceptable), but the actual value is normally determined and updated by the Employee Import.
- Start Date
- The date the employee job becomes effective.
- End Date
- The date the employee job becomes ineffective.
- Rank
- When an employee is qualified for multiple jobs, this value prioritizes one job over another for specific usage within the application. For example, the MVS module has an auto-assign component that relies on this value when generating a schedule.
- Preferred Job

Indicates whether or not this job is the employee’s preferred job.
An employee can have one preferred job that ranks higher than any other jobs for which they are qualified. When shifts for multiple jobs are possible for an employee, the preferred job is given priority and assigned by the Optimizer.
