Setting up non-volume-driven staffing requirements
The Non-Volume Driven Work Staff Requirements section enables you to capture predictable, reoccurring activities that are not driven by volume. These are blocks of workload that must be scheduled and performed, but are not based on the forecast. For example, cleaning the floors or unloading a truck.
- Select Scheduling > Schedule Optimization > Setup > Location.
- Click Edit beside the department location for which you want to set up staffing requirements.
- Click Staff Requirements.
-
If you have existing staffing requirements, select a date range in
the
From and
To fields to display
entries according to their effective dates.
Entries with effective dates that fall within the date range that you specify will be displayed in the Volume Driven Work, Non-Volume Driven Work, and Location Properties Driven Work sections.
- In the Non-Volume Driven Work section, click the plus icon to display a blank row.
-
Specify this information:
- Description
- Specify a description of the staff requirement.
- Activity
- Select the activity to which the employee is assigned using the lookup.
- Job
- Select the name of the job required at this location using the lookup. The Any job option is not typically used in non-volume driven staff requirements. For details on how to use this option, see Setting up volume-driven staffing requirements.
- Skill
- Select the name of the skill that is required of the employee for this job at this location using the lookup. Select NONE if no specific skill is required for the job.
- Distribution
- Select the distribution for the activity-based workload using the lookup. Because start and end times are specified for this workload, the flat distribution is typically used. You may also use the Best Fit distribution. This distribution does not add workload to the interval requirements directly, but instead looks to fill these needs during gaps in other requirements throughout the schedule.
- Workload Hours
- Specify the number of workload hours that are required for the activity.
- Start Time
- Specify the start time of the time window when the activity must be performed.
- End Time
- Specify the end time of the time window when the activity must be performed.
- Effective Start Date
- Select the effective start date of the activity using the lookup.
- Effective End Date
- Select the date the activity is no longer effective using the lookup.
- Recurrence
- Select the Weekly or Daily option to indicate the frequency of the activity.
- Max Required
- Specify the maximum number of employees that are required for this activity.
- Add more non-volume driven staffing requirements for this location as necessary.
- Click Save.
