Defining special days

  1. Select Scheduling > Schedule Optimization > Forecast > Special Day Setup > Special Days.
  2. Click Create New Entry.
  3. Specify this information:
    Location
    Select the location to which this special day is assigned using the lookup. The available locations are listed in a hierarchy in the Location lookup window.
    Special Day Name
    Specify the name of the special day.
    Special Day Desc
    Specify the description of the special day.
    Special Day Dist
    Select the distribution to apply to the special day using the lookup. The default value is No Distribution Override, which uses the location's default distribution. You can also select a flat distribution or a user-defined distribution.
    Special Day Skip
    Select this check box to ignore results data for this special day when creating future forecasts and distributions.
  4. Select one of these options:
    • Forecast from all special days in the historical period: Generates the forecast based on special days in the historical period.
    • Forecast from all special days in the historical period which fall on the same day of the week: Generates the forecast based on special days that occurred on the same day of the week as this special day.
    • Adjust calculated forecast by percentage: Adjusts the calculated forecast by a percentage for the special day. Specify the percentage by which the calculated forecast is adjusted in the corresponding field.
    • Day of Week Override: Supported in multiple regression only, this option allows you to treat the selected special day like a different day of the week. If your special day is a Monday holiday, you might opt to treat the special day like a Sunday for forecasting purposes. The option uses the historical information from Sundays to create the forecast for that Monday holiday.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Select the date on which the special day occurs using the Special Day occurs on calendar lookup.
  7. Add any additional dates for this special day as necessary.
  8. Click Save.
