Setting up Fixed Width Imports

To set up a Fixed Width Import:

  1. Create a definition file and the related corresponding fixed width data file.
For information about setting up a definition file, see the individual import interface topics for the field specifications.
  2. Specify this information to create a scheduled import task in the Job Scheduler:
    Task Type
    Import Task Fixed Width
    Import Task Parameters: Interface Type
Select the import interface type you want to import.
    Import Task Parameters: Performs Difference
Optionally, select this check box if you want the Import Task Fixed Width task to perform a difference between the current fixed width file and the previous Fixed Width Import file of the same Import Task Fixed Width task. Only the information that is different is imported into the staging table.
    Import Task Parameters: File Name
Specify the file name, including the absolute path to the Fixed Width Import file. The file must be located on the Job Scheduler server.
Note: If you are an Infor Single-tenant (ST) Cloud customer for versions 7.1.0 and higher, you may need to specify a relative path to the file due to changes in Job Scheduler for ST cloud. For more information, see KB article KB2211600.
    Import Task Parameters: UTF-8 Encoded
Optionally, select this check box if the incoming file is UTF-8 encoded.
Import Task Parameters: Definition File Name
Specify the definition file name, including the absolute path to the definition file.

See General procedures. Unlike the CSV format import, you do not have to specify the transformer class name. The Fixed Width Import uses the definition file and a related transformer class to import data into the staging table.

The remainder of the import process is similar to the CSV format import. An interface task is created as specified in the individual import interface chapters.

  3. Specify this information to create a scheduled interface task in the Job Scheduler:
    Task Type
    Interface Task
    Interface Task Parameters: Interface Type
Select the interface type you want to import.
    Interface Type Specific Parameters:
The interface type parameters are specific to the interface type selected. These parameters are described in the various interface topics within this chapter.
After setting up the Fixed Width Import, you can use the Job Scheduler to run the import process.
