Validations overview for the TimeTrack clock
- Badge validation
- This validation checks that the badge number that the employee used to perform the clock is valid. The employee badge, PIN and employee status are validated together. If an active employee cannot be identified by the badge and PIN, then it is rejected with an error of “Invalid Credentials”.
- Schedule Validation
- This validation checks that the employee is scheduled to work.
Generally, the TimeTrack performs several validations on each clock punch. If a punch passes all the validations, then the punch is accepted. If the punch fails at least one validation, then the punch is rejected. For example, using the badge and supervisor validations means TimeTrack checks that the badge used for the clock punch is valid and the employee performing the punch is a supervisor. If the badge is invalid or the employee is not a supervisor, then the punch is rejected.
Some validations can be configured explicitly in the TimeTrack clock, although others depend on configuration in WFM. Both types of validations are outlined in this section of the guide.
These types of validations can be configured in TimeTrack and are documented in this section:
- Schedule Validation
- Consecutive Types Validation
- Same Minute Validation
- Break Length Validation
- Swipe Order Validation
This is a list of the validations that require additional configuration in WFM. These validations require correct configuration in WFM for the validations to work properly in TimeTrack:
- AreaValidation
-
Badge validation prevents this. Swipes are allowed when the Employee is assigned to the reader group of the reader and the badge exists. The validation rejects with an Unknown Employee message.
Checks that the employee performing the punch belongs to the same reader group as the clock reader group. The punch is rejected if the clock does not belong to the same reader group as the employee.
- BadgeValidation
- Swipes are validated when Employee is assigned to the reader group of the reader and the badge exists. The validation rejects with an Unknown Employee message.
- DepartmentValidation
- Department is shown on the list only when it is assigned to the reader group of the reader and is Active.
- DepartmentAreaValidation
- Department is shown on the list only when it is assigned to the reader group of the reader.
- DocketValidation
- Docket is shown on the list only when it is assigned to the reader group of the reader and is Active.
- DocketAreaValidation
- Docket is shown on the list only when it is assigned to the reader group of the reader.
- JobValidation
- Job is shown on the list only when it is assigned to the reader group of the reader and is Active.
- JobAreaValidation
- Job is shown on the list only when it is assigned to the reader group of the reader.
- PinValidation
- PIN is validated if it matches the PIN in the Employee Badge maintenance form. The validation rejects with an Unknown Employee message.
- ProjectValidation
- Project is shown on the list only when it is assigned to the reader group of the reader and is Active
- ProjectAreaValidation
- Project is shown on the list only when it is assigned to the reader group of the reader and is Active
- TimeCodeValidaton
- TimeCode is shown on the list only when it is assigned to the reader group of the reader. When the reader group association does not exist and the code is configured in the reader configuration property definition, the validation rejects with an Invalid Time Code message.
- TimeCodeAreaValidation
- TimeCode is shown on the list only when it is assigned to the reader group of the reader.
- SupervisorValidation
- Entry to the Supervisor mode is allowed when the Employee is assigned to the reader group of the reader, the badge exists and the Employee level is Supervisor. The validation rejects with a You are not a Supervisor message.
- SupervisorAreaValidation
- Entry to the Supervisor mode is allowed when the Employee is assigned to the reader group of the reader and the Employee level is a Supervisor. The validation rejects with an Unknown Employee message.
