Purging the clock database

You can purge the clock database to remove all data from the clock, including transactional data. This can be useful if you are moving a clock to a new environment and want to remove the data that is specific to the old environment, or if you are returning a clock to the vendor and want to remove all data that could contain personally identifiable information (PII).

Note: Removing this data is often a requirement of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) law on data protection and privacy in the European Union and the European Economic Area. Similar laws exist in other jurisdictions.

This database purge process is only available to system administrators, and does not remove any clock system logs or clock application logs that may be required for troubleshooting. Fingerprint templates are also removed from the clock.

Note: You can also use the Admin Console to purge the clock database.

  1. After logging in as an Administrative user, select F3 (Purge DB).
    The clock will prompt you with a message warning you that all data, including transactional data, will be deleted.
  2. Select Yes (F5) to continue or No (F6) to cancel the operation.
  3. If you select Yes (F5), the clock will again prompt you with a warning message that the process cannot be reversed and are you sure you want to proceed.
  4. Select Yes (F5) to proceed with purging the database or No (F6) to cancel the operation.
If you select Yes (F5), the clock displays a message stating that the database is in the process of being purged. Once the purge is complete, the clock displays a message stating that the database purge is complete.
