Staff offsets
Staff offsets should be considered when employees are required to work before or after a
location's hours of operation to perform opening or closing tasks. Staff offsets are
specified at the department level as a number of hours, or portions of hours, before
opening time or after closing time. When schedules are generated, Auto-Assignment may
extend shifts at the start or end of the department's hours of operation by the length
of time specified in the staff offsets.
Note: Shifts created from employee shift patterns are not affected by staff
offsets.
Auto-Assignment uses the workload requirements to determine how many employees are required before opening time or after closing time. The interval immediately after opening time determines how many shifts are required before the opening time. The interval immediately before closing time determines the number of shifts required after closing time. Because of this, you must specify staff offsets that are a multiple of the Schedule Requirement Interval used in the department. A department that uses 30 minute intervals for workload requirements can specify staff offset lengths in increments of 0.5 hours, for example 30 minutes or 60 minutes.
