Staffing group rule conversions
The migration process analyzes the staffing rules that are enabled in the selected staff group to convert them into Auto-Assignment rules in the new Auto-Assignment group. Labels and the relevant options for each rule are automatically specified during the conversion. Some staff group rules do not have an equivalent rule in the Auto-Assignment model. For other rules, the equivalent rule may behave differently in Auto-Assignment when schedules are generated. This section describes how each staff group rule is converted and describes any expected differences in rule behavior.
For details on Auto-Assignment rules, see Available rules.
For details on staff group rules, see "Staffing rules" in the Infor Workforce Management LFSO Implementation and Administration Guide.
Honor skill requirements
When this rule is enabled, the Honor Required Skills
rule is added
to the new Auto-Assignment group. The Weight
Required option is disabled.
The skill level should be better than the required skill level
This rule is not migrated to the new Auto-Assignment group. This rule is treated as a preference in the Staff Groups model, meaning employees that do not meet the required skill level may be assigned to shifts in cases where fully qualified employees are not available.
To only assign employees to shifts that meet or exceed the required skill level, you
can enable the Weight Required option for
the Honor Required Skills
rule. When the Weight Required option is enabled, employees are
never assigned to shifts for which they do not meet the required skill level.
Place Staff on Fixed Shifts
When this rule is enabled, the Honor Employee Fixed Status
rule is
added to the new Auto-Assignment group.
Honor employee availability
When this rule is enabled, the Honor Availability
rule is added to
the new Auto-Assignment group.
Do not assign staff to more than employee specific max hours
When this rule is enabled, two Maximum Hours Per Time Period
rules
are added to the new Auto-Assignment group. One of the rules has the Assignment Period selected for the rule time
period to cover employees' Max Hours /
Assignment period. The other rule has one day selected for the rule
time period to cover employees' Max Hours /
Day. Both rules have the Use employee
specific values option enabled. Both rules are constraints.
Do not assign staff to less than minimum hours per shift
When this rule is enabled, the Minimum Hours Per Shift
rule is added
to the new Auto-Assignment group. The Use employee
specific values option is enabled.
Enforce minimum hours per schedule
When this rule is enabled, the Minimum Hours Per Time Period
rule is
added to the new Auto-Assignment group. The Use
employee specific values option is enabled. The assignment period is
selected as the time period for the rule. The rule is a preference.
Do not schedule staff more than X shift(s) per day
When this rule is enabled, the Maximum Shifts Per Time Period
rule
is added to the new Auto-Assignment group. The time period for the rule is one day.
The number of shifts is the X specified for the staff group rule. The rule is a
constraint.
Do not schedule staff more than X shift(s) per schedule
When this rule is enabled, the Maximum Shifts Per Time Period
rule
is added to the new Auto-Assignment group. The assignment period is selected as the
time period for the rule. The number of shifts is the X specified for the staff
group rule. The rule is a constraint.
Max 2 nights per week after X
This rule is not migrated to the new Auto-Assignment group. There is no equivalent rule in the Auto-Assignment model.
Maximum X Saturdays per calendar month
This rule is not migrated to the new Auto-Assignment group. There is no equivalent rule in the Auto-Assignment model.
Maximum X Sundays per calendar month
This rule is not migrated to the new Auto-Assignment group. There is no equivalent rule in the Auto-Assignment model.
Do not schedule Saturday and Sunday in same weekend
This rule is not migrated to the new Auto-Assignment group. You can use the
Maximum Shifts Per Time Period
rule in Auto-Assignment with
WEEKEND type shifts to satisfy similar requirements.
Do not schedule both Friday after X and Saturday after X
This rule is not migrated to the new Auto-Assignment group. There is no equivalent rule in the Auto-Assignment model.
Do not allow overtime
When this rule is enabled, two Maximum Hours Per Time Period
rules
are added to the new Auto-Assignment group to cover daily and weekly overtime. For
daily overtime, one day is specified as the time period for the rule. For weekly
overtime, the assignment period is specified as the time period for the rule. Both
rules have the Use employee specific
values options enabled. Both rules are preferences.
These Auto-Assignment rules use different data to define overtime than the Do
not allow overtime
rule in the Staff Groups model. In the Staff Groups
model, daily and weekly overtime thresholds are defined in the job configuration.
These thresholds are defined in the Job Team maintenance
sub-form for employees that are assigned to the job on a specific team.
The Auto-Assignment rules that are added use employee-specific maximum hours to determine overtime. If these hours do not match the actual overtime thresholds for the employees being scheduled, it is recommended to disable the Use employee specific values options for these rules and specify the appropriate overtime thresholds.
Assign staff using X technique
When this rule is enabled, it is migrated to the new Auto-Assignment group differently depending on the option selected:
- Randomization: This rule is not migrated. Randomization is enabled or disabled
in the Auto-Assignment model using the
AS_RANDOMNESS_ON
registry parameter. - Seniority: The
Employee Seniority Sort Order
is added to the new Auto-Assignment group. The Seniority Date is used to sort employees in ascending order. - Date-of-hire: The
Employee Seniority Sort Order
is added to the new Auto-Assignment group. The Hire Date is used to sort employees in ascending order.
Maximum consecutive work days: X
When this rule is enabled, the Maximum Consecutive Days
rule is
added to the new Auto-Assignment group. The maximum number of consecutive days is
the X specified for the staff group rule. This rule is a constraint.
Prefer to schedule full-time employees
When this rule is enabled with the drop down set to Yes, the
Employee Full Time Sort Order
is added to the new
Auto-Assignment group. If the drop down is set to No, this
rule is not migrated.
When this rule is enabled, the Employment Type Sort Order is added to the new Auto-Assignment group. It is recommended to review the sort order in the Employment Types maintenance form to ensure that employees are prioritized according to the customer’s requirements.
Do not exceed budget
When this rule is enabled, the Maximum Schedule Budget
rule is added
to the new Auto-Assignment group.
Maximum X closing shifts per schedule
When this rule is enabled, the Maximum Shifts Per Time Period
rule
is added to the new Auto-Assignment group. This rule specifies a maximum number of
shifts with the CLOSING shift type during the assignment period. The maximum number
of shifts is the X specified in the staff group rule. This rule is a preference.
Minimum 2 consecutive days off
When this rule is enabled, the Minimum Consecutive Days Off
rule is
added to the new Auto-Assignment group. The minimum number of consecutive days off
is two. This rule is a preference.
Minimum X hours between shifts
When this rule is enabled, the Minimum Hours Between Shifts
rule is
added to the new Auto-Assignment group. The minimum number of hours between shifts
is the X specified for the staff group rule. This rule is a constraint.
Maximum X weekends in month (Sat/Sun Combos)
This rule is not migrated to the new Auto-Assignment group. There is no equivalent rule in the Auto-Assignment model.
Assign staff randomly
This rule is not migrated. Randomization is enabled or disabled in the Auto-Assignment model using the AS_RANDOMNESS_ON registry parameter.
Do not assign staff to more than X hour(s) in schedule
When this rule is enabled, the Maximum Hours Per Time Period
rule is
added to the new Auto-Assignment group. The assignment period is the time period for
this rule. The number of maximum hours is the X specified for the staff group rule.
This rule is a constraint.
Minimize employee cost
This rule is not migrated to the new Auto-Assignment group. There is no equivalent rule in the Auto-Assignment model.
Schedule to Ownership
When this rule is enabled, the Minimum Hours Per Time Period
rule is
added to the new Auto-Assignment group. The Use
employee specific values option is enabled. The assignment period is
selected as the time period for the rule. The rule is a constraint.
Schedule higher skilled employees in preferred times
When this rule is enabled, the Top Performer Preferences
rule is
added to the new Auto-Assignment group. The Use peak
time source option is enabled. Note that this rule in the
Auto-Assignment model uses the employee sort order to determine the top performing
employees. This is a change from the Staff Groups model, which uses employee skill
proficiency levels to determine top performing employees. Auto-Assignment can sort
employees based on skill proficiency levels or other criteria.
Willingness to avoid overstaffing and understaffing (on a scale 0 to 9)
This rule is not migrated to the new Auto-Assignment group. There is no equivalent rule in the Auto-Assignment model.
