Configuring shift rules
For LFSO Auto-Assignment, the Shift Rules tab is where you can define the times and lengths of shifts that can be generated to create a schedule.

- From the Configuration page for the Auto-Assignment group, select the Shift Rules tab.

Specify this information to create a shift rule:
- Shift starts between
- Enter the earliest start time for a shift created by this shift rule.
- And
- Enter the latest start time for a shift created by this
shift rule.Note: If using multiple shift rules in an Auto-Assignment group, the shift start times must not overlap between shift rules.
- Min Length
- Enter the shortest length in hours allowed for a shift created by this shift rule.
- Max Length
- Enter the longest length in hours allowed for a shift created by this shift rule.
- Start Interval
- The start interval determines the acceptable length
intervals for a shift. Select one of these options:
- 60 minutes to indicate that shifts may only start and end on the hour.
- 30 minutes to indicate that shifts may start and end on the hour or half hour.
- 15 minutes to indicate that shifts may start and end on the hour, half hour, or quarter hour.

Use this dropdown to configure the days when this schedule is applied. You can select Weekdays, Weekends or specific days, individually or in combination, which gives you significant flexibility in applying the schedule.
If you make multiple selections, make sure they do not overlap. For example,if you select Weekends and Sundays, an error message displays.
- Click Add Shift Rule and select a rule from the drop-down list.

In the Rules Details portion of the screen, make a selection for Time Period. Options are:
- Days
- Assignment Period
- Calendar Month: Select this option if you are using the monthly calendar option.
- Add additional shift rules as needed.
- Optionally, click the pencil icon to edit an existing shift rule, and click Update Shift Rule to save the changes.
- Optionally, click the garbage can icon to delete a shift rule.
- Click Save to save changes to the Auto-Assignment Group.
