Importing an Encrypted File into WFM

To import an encrypted file into WFM, you must add an import task to the Job Scheduler which specifies you are importing a PGP encrypted file. Job Scheduler can decrypt the file and import the information into WFM.

The high level steps are provided in this guide. Refer to the Infor Workforce Management Time and Attendance Implementation and Administration Guide for these tasks:

  • Using config mode
  • Setting field level security

To import an encrypted file:

  1. Create an import task in Job Scheduler by navigating to Maintenance > System Administration > Job Scheduler in the WFM application and clicking Add Schedule.

For the specific steps and parameters involved, see "Adding import tasks to the Job Scheduler" in the Infor Workforce Management Interfaces Administration Guide.

  2. Once your import task has been created in Job Scheduler, navigate to Maintenance > System Administration > Job Scheduler and click Parameters for the import task that you just created.
  3. Click the Turn ON config mode gear icon Config mode gear icon which enables config mode for the displayed fields.
  4. Click the lock icon Lock icon for the File is PGP Encrypted field.
  5. In the Security Configuration popup dialog, select the Security Group(s) that can access to the File is PGP Encrypted field (hidden by default) by selecting the Act option for the Permission Flag:
    • Act: Allows full access to the field.
    • view: Allows read-only access to the field.
    • Deny: Denies access to the field.

Once enabled, the File is PGP Encrypted field is visible on all import, import multi-row and import fixed-width parameter pages.

  6. Optional. Complete steps 4 and 5 for the Encrypt Bad File field.
  7. After you have specified your settings, click Save and click Submit.
  8. Click the config mode gear icon Config mode gear icon to exit config mode.
  9. Complete your Job Scheduler import task according to the details in the "Adding import tasks to the Job Scheduler" topic in the Infor Workforce Management Interfaces Administration Guide.
  10. Once your Job Scheduler import task is fully configured, you can schedule and run the task to import PGP encrypted files.

During the import, Job Scheduler decrypts the file and imports the data into WFM. The file is removed from the Job Scheduler machine and the encrypted version of the file is placed in the OLD directory on the Job Scheduler machine. After import, the file in the OLD folder remains encrypted.

If you enabled the Encrypt Bad File field and Job Scheduler fails to import the encrypted file, the encrypted file is placed in the BAD directory on the Job Scheduler machine.

Note: If you do not enable this option, a decrypted file is placed in the BAD directory.
