Troubleshooting connection errors

The Mail Forwarder Task in the Job Scheduler fails if the Task cannot connect to the external mail server. When the Task cannot connect, this error message is displayed:

Error connecting to mail host [external mail server address](Connection returned the following internal 
error message: "[message from external mail server]")
  • [external mail server address] in the above message displays the address of the external mail server to which you are trying to connect.
  • “[message from external mail server]” in the above message displays the message sent back to Infor WFM from the external mail server when a connection is attempted.

The Mail Forwarder Task does not try to connect to the external mail server unless there is mail waiting to be forwarded.

An incorrect address for the external mail server prevents a connection. In this case, the mail waits until the connection is made.
