Maintenance Mode

Maintenance Mode is used to prevent end users from changing data when the WFM application is live. It is recommended to activate Maintenance Mode before migrating data through the WFM application to prevent data changes during the migration process. Maintenance Mode is not suitable for performing platform or infrastructure changes, as it requires the application server and database to be running.

Maintenance Mode can be activated only by members of the SYSTEM ADMINS security group. When Maintenance Mode is turned on, users that are not in the SYSTEM ADMINS security group cannot use any of the features of the application. Users that are currently logged in, or that log in, are redirected to a page informing them that the application is in Maintenance Mode. Users in the SYSTEM ADMINS security group can access the application, generally to import an exported database or to turn off Maintenance Mode. An alert triangle is displayed in the Header Menu to indicate to system administrators that Maintenance Mode is turned on. It is recommended to inform users in advance before placing the application in Maintenance Mode, so they can avoid being interrupted or losing unsaved work.

The job scheduler stops executing new scheduled tasks when Maintenance Mode is activated. Any tasks that are running at the moment when Maintenance Mode is activated continue executing as normal. Before starting an import, it is important to check that no job scheduler tasks are running, as active tasks can make changes to the database. After the migration process is completed and Maintenance Mode is turned off, it may be necessary to restart the job scheduler.
