Pay group types

You can use pay group types to define pay groups that function outside of the typical bi-weekly (1st to 15th, 16th to end of the month) pay period setup. This function is commonly used when pay period setup is based on duration, instead of specific start and end dates.

These pay group types are pre-defined:

  • Bi-Weekly: Pay is paid every 2 weeks, based on the start and end dates defined for the pay group for each pay period.
  • Monthly: Pay is paid once a month, starting on the 1st day of each month.
  • Semi-Monthly: Pay is paid twice a month, starting on the 1st and 16th of each month.
  • Un-Paid: This pay group type is reserved for employees who are not paid by the payroll system.
  • Weekly: Pay is paid once a week.
  • Custom: This pay group type is based on a user-defined duration or a specified day of the month.

To provide more flexibility for incorporating a range of pay periods, pay group types can be defined to fit into monthly and semi-monthly pay periods that can start and end on any day of the month.
