Configuring a DBLookup layer to open unpopulated

You can configure a DBLookup layer to open unpopulated so that the layer does not display any records. This configuration significantly reduces the time that is required to open the layer and reduces the load on the server. You are prompted to enter search criteria and click Find to display matching records.

  1. Select the menu path to open the page with the DBLookup for which you want to make the change.
  2. Click the Turn ON config mode icon.
  3. Click the diamond icon next to the DBLookup.
The Field UI Type and Label Localization window is displayed.
  4. Click Help next to the Field UI field.
The DBLookup UI window is displayed.
  5. In the Parameter Name column, locate the initialBlank parameter.
  6. In the corresponding Parameter Value column, specify true.
Note: The bottom of this window lists all parameters on the page, their descriptions, and acceptable values.
  7. Click Preview to display the field output based on the supplied parameter values.
  8. Click Save.
The specified parameter values are displayed in the Field Parameters field of the Field UI Type and Label Localization window.
  9. Click Save, and close the window.
Note: You can specify the initialBlank parameter directly in the Field Parameters field in the Field UI Type and Label Localization window. Each parameter must be separated by a single space. The parameter is case-sensitive.

The configuration is now set. If the settings have not taken effect, you can clear the system cache. For more information on how to do that, see Unloading the cache.
