Examples

This section includes examples of shifts that violate or pass this schedule compliance rule.

Example Configuration

The following examples use these configuration settings:

Max Consecutive Days Allowed: 3

Required Qualifying Hours: 10

Example 1 - Violation (extra day)

Employee A is scheduled to work:

  • Monday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Tuesday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Thursday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Schedule compliance returns a violation because the employee is scheduled 10 hours for 4 consecutive days.

Example 2 - Violation (odd shifts/extra day)

Employee B is scheduled to work:

  • Monday
    • Shift 1- 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
    • Shift 2- 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM
  • Tuesday
    • Shift 1- 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM
    • Shift 2- 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM
  • Wednesday 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM
  • Thursday 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM

Schedule compliance returns a violation because the employee is scheduled 10 or more hours for 4 consecutive days.

Example 3 - Pass (shorter shift on extra day)

Employee C is scheduled to work:

  • Monday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Tuesday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Thursday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Schedule compliance does not return a violation because Employee C is not scheduled more than 3 consecutive days for 10 (or more) hours — Thursday's shift is only 8 hours.

Example 4 - Pass

Employee D is scheduled to work:

  • Monday 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM
  • Wednesday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Thursday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Friday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Schedule compliance does not return a violation because Employee D is not scheduled more than 3 consecutive days for 10 (or more) hours—the first shift's hours count towards Monday's total.

Example 5 - Violation

Employee E is scheduled to work:

  • Sunday 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
  • Tuesday 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
  • Wednesday 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
  • Thursday 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
  • Friday 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM

Schedule compliance returns a violation because Employee E is scheduled more than 3 consecutive days for 10 (or more) hours. The last shift's hours count towards Friday’s total.

Example 6 - Pass (Long Shifts Same Day)

Employee F is scheduled to work:

  • Sunday 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
  • Tuesday
    • Shift 1 2:00 AM to 12:00 PM
    • Shift 2 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM
  • Wednesday 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
  • Thursday 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM

Schedule compliance does not return a violation because Employee F is not scheduled more than 3 consecutive days for 10 (or more) hours. The two 10-hour shifts on Tuesday exceed 10 hours.
