Data elements and shift or assignment changes

Data elements are connected to day cells in an MR or OTS. This means that the same data elements are retained on a cell when the shift plotted in that cell changes. This includes both when the shift in a day cell is changed in an OTS and when the shift is changed in an MR after a new row version is activated.

Data elements cannot be associated with day cells that do not have a shift. If you delete a shift from a cell in an OTS, the data elements are remembered until the OTS is saved. If a new shift is plotted in the same cell, the data elements are applied to the new shift. When the OTS is saved, data elements are forgotten in cells that do not have shifts. If you activate a row version in an MR, data elements are forgotten on any days that do not have shifts in the new row version.

Data elements are retained on shifts when you make changes to assignments on the row. When a shift is moved to a sub-row because the assigned employee is unassigned, the shift retains its data elements. Data elements are copied to unassigned shifts created when employees are placed on long-term absence (LTA).
