Overview

You can use LFSO Schedule Validation to generate a schedule validation report for the current schedule being viewed. Schedule validation checks the current schedule period against a set of configured validation rules and identifies when those configured rules have not been met. The rules can apply to all employees within specified rule groups and, for some rules where values (such as minimums or maximums) are required, that value can be specified for individual employees.

The purpose of schedule validation reporting is to ensure managers produce schedules that adhere to their company’s configured rules. When rules are violated, the report provides information on which rules have been violated for the selected schedule, so that the manager can make the appropriate adjustments.

When managers click the Validate button, the system checks the scheduled shifts against all configured rules. Schedule violations are calculated and a Schedule Validation report is produced.

The report displays in the Schedule Validation window and does the following:

  • Identifies if there are any rule violations on the current schedule
  • Provides information to help managers make appropriate adjustments:
    • Identifies employees who have violated the established validation rules
    • Identifies which rules are being violated
    • In some cases, identifies when those rules were violated

You cannot save the results from the Schedule Violation report.

When no violations are found after generating a Schedule Validation report, the Schedule Validation window displays with a message indicating that there were no violations in the schedule. When the Schedule Validation report returns results, you can sort the report by employee (alphabetical by last name) or by the rule that was violated.

Managers can use LFSO Schedule Validation on a day-to-day basis. Schedule Validation reports should be generated upon schedule completion. If violations occur, managers can then modify the schedule to correct those violations. After performing any additions, edits, or deletions to the schedule, managers can then generate another Schedule Validation report to ensure the earlier violations have been addressed and no new violations have been introduced.

For best use, managers should validate the schedule prior to publishing so that violating shifts can be adjusted before becoming viewable by the employee. They can ensure that they are aware of issues related to currently configured rules whenever information has been changed on the schedule.

LFSO Schedule Validation adheres to standard system team security. Users can only click the Validate button and generate reports if the functionality is accessible to them based on their assigned security group. For information about system security, see the Time and Attendance Implementation and Administration Guide.

Generating a Schedule Validation report does not affect publishing the schedule or performing any other scheduling functions.

The rules checked by LFSO Schedule Validation need to be configured by the system administrator. There are nine validation rules available. For information about all the available schedule validation rules, see Validation Rules.
