Shift Billboard performance planning

Customers can expect a reasonable user experience when posting up to 50 shifts to the Shift Billboard per day that are available to be claimed by any particular employee. Exceeding this limit may cause slow performance when employees view their schedule in the My Schedule page in mobility. This can occur because this page loads information for all shifts that are available to the employee when it loads the employee's schedule. The My Schedule page also evaluates billboard shifts for potential schedule compliance violations, and this evaluation can affect performance. In general, the more schedule compliance rules used, the more performance is degraded. Using large numbers of schedule compliance rules might mean that, to ensure a reasonable user experience, less than 50 shifts can be made available per day.

Performance is more likely to be affected on tablets than mobile phones. This is because mobile phones display a user's weekly schedule, but tablets display a user's schedule for an entire month plus adjacent days from other months, up to a maximum of 42 days. When an employee who can claim 50 billboard shifts per day opens the My Schedule page on a tablet, the page would display up to 2100 billboard shifts.

The number of shifts any particular employee can claim from the billboard per day is typically less than the total number of shifts posted across all Shift Billboard groups. This is because employees are restricted to claiming shifts based on their membership in Shift Billboard groups, qualifications, and existing schedule.
