Configuring biometric sensitivity

The bioMetric.threshold and bioMetric.threshold.enroll configuration settings control the sensitivity of the fingerprint reader. These settings can be found in the Admin Console.

On clock start up, the device is initialized to the value specified in the bioMetric.threshold setting. Normal operations occur with this setting.

When enrolling new users, the device is set to the value specified in the bioMetric.threshold.enroll setting. This setting can be set to a higher value to improve the quality of the fingerprint scan during enrollment. After enrollment, the device is set back to the value specified in the bioMetric.threshold setting.

  1. Connect to the clock in the Admin Console.
  2. On the Settings tab of the Admin Console, right-click the bioMetric.threshold or bioMetric.threshold.enroll property and select Modify Value.
  3. Specify one of these values:
    • READ_BACK

This is the default setting. In this setting, the fingerprint reader operates with no additional sensitivity.

    • LOW
    • MEDIUM
    • HIGH
    • VERY_HIGH
Note: The VERY_HIGH setting is only supported for clocks with the Lumidigm fingerprint reader.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click Update Server.
No restart of the clock is required for your changes to take effect.
Note: If you are required to update multiple clocks, then you can use the configuration update process.

See Configuration updates for the clock.
