Specifying where to release the forecast

The Release Forecast check box on the Forecast Generation page and the Release to Location check box on the Labor Budgeting Locations Detail page together determine where in the hierarchy the forecast is released after it is generated.

The Release to Location check box is on the Labor Budgeting Locations Detail page. Display the page using the following menu path:

Maintenance > Optional Modules > Labor Budgeting Settings > Labor Budgeting Locations

  • If the Release Forecast check box is not selected on the Forecast Generation page, then the generated forecast is not released to lower levels of the hierarchy. The root location of the forecast is always set to Pending state, while all child locations are always set to Initial state. This setting is used in the following scenarios:
    • The root budget manager wants to review and edit the budget before releasing it.
    • The root budget manager will release the forecast to multiple locations from the Worksheet. See Mass-Releasing the Budget or Forecast.
    • There is no solicitation process.
  • If the Release Forecast check box is selected on the Forecast Generation page, then the generated forecast is released to the lowest level within the hierarchy, such as Stores, for which the Release to Location check box is selected.

    • If a parent location has only one child location and the Release to Location check box is selected for it, then the locations at the lowest level, such as Stores, are set to Pending state, while the parent location is set to Released state.

    • If the parent location has several child locations, but only some have the Release to Location check box selected, then the parent location is set to Pending state. The parent location can then manually release the forecast to the locations for which the Release to Location check box is not selected through the Worksheet. After this is done, the parent location is set to Released state.
