Driver Setup

A driver is a stream of actuals and forecasted data about a specified unit or volume type that is expressed in a specified interval, such as an hour, a 15-minute period, or a day. Examples of drivers are: sales dollars per hour; the number of units sold per hour; the number of transactions per hour; and guests per hour. Drivers are usually not connected directly to a group of products or an area of the store: they are connected indirectly to different departments by staffing requirements, which are used to generate workload.

The Budget Creation module forecasts drivers based on historical point-of-sale data using the algorithm specified by a forecast method. See Forecast Methods.

While LFSO uses these driver forecasts to calculate detailed staffing requirements for creating schedules, the Budget Creation module uses them to determine aggregate staffing requirements for creating a bottom-up projection.
