Generating Plans for Special Days

To generate plans for days defined as special days:

  1. Select Scheduling > Schedule Optimization > Special Days > New. The Add Special Days page is displayed.
  2. Select these options:
Forecast from all special days in the historical period

The application uses historical data for the same special day. By default, the application checks 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after the matching day from last year to find last year’s special day with the same name. The length of time that the application searches before and after last year’s matching day is configurable. For details, contact Infor Consulting Services.

The application uses the closest special day from last year with the same name. If the application does not find a special day with the same name in the specified time range from last year, the application uses the actuals from the matching day last year. If there are no actuals from last year’s matching day, the application inserts 0.

Forecast from all special days in the historical period which fall on the same day of the week

The application uses historical data for the same special day that occurred on the same day of the week. By default, the application checks 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after the matching day from last year to find last year’s special day with the same name on the same day of the week. The length of time that the application searches before and after last year’s matching day is configurable using the SPECIAL_DAYS_SEARCH_WEEKS registry parameter. See the Infor WFM Registry Parameter Reference Guide.

The application uses the closest special day from last year with the same name on the same day of the week. If the application does not find a special day with the same name on the same day of the week in the specified time range from last year, the application uses the actuals from the matching day last year. If there are no actuals from last year’s matching day, the application inserts 0.

    Adjust calculated forecast by percentage
The application adjusts the actuals for the matching day last year by the specified value and then treats this day as a normal day.

Notes

  • If two special days are defined for the same location and date, the application uses the latest one that was specified in the system.
  • If there are two special days that are equally close to the matching day from last year, the application uses the day with higher volumes.
  • Child locations inherit all special days defined for the parent location.
  • If a special day is defined for multiple hierarchy levels, the application uses the special day from the closest parent.
