Employee Priority By Skill Sort Order

The Employee Priority By Skill Sort Order can be used to prefer shifts be assigned to employees that have higher levels of proficiency in the required skill. This sort order can be useful for giving an advantage to top-performing employees when generating schedules for LFSO.
Note: The Employee Priority By Skill Sort Order is not supported in MVS.

When this sort order is selected in an Auto-Assignment group, each shift that is generated creates a priority order for assigning employees based on the skill specified in the staffing requirement that the shift is covering. When assigning a shift, employees that have higher weight values for the specified skill in their employee profile are preferred over employees with lower weight values. Employees that do not have the skill in their profile are given the lowest priority.

For example, a shift is being generated to cover a staffing requirement that specifies the cashiering skill. Employee A has the cashiering skill with a weight of 100, and employee B has the cashiering skill with a weight of 50. Employee C does not have the cashiering skill. When this sort order is selected, Auto-Assignment gives employee A the highest priority to assign shifts for this staffing requirement. Employee B has second priority, and employee C has last priority.

It is important to note that Auto-Assignment may assign shifts to employees that have lower skill weights or to employees that do not have the specified skill. This occurs when higher skilled employees are not available or when assigning the shift to them would violate scheduling rules. The Honor Required Skills rule can be selected to prevent shifts from being assigned to employees that do not have the skill specified in the staff requirement.
