Best practices for Auto-Assignment implementation

This section outlines some best practices and tips for using auto-assignment and improving the quality of your generated schedule:

  • Use schedule compliance to alert the user to situations where some of the rules have been broken during schedule generation with auto-assignment. This will allow the user to view the violations on the generated schedule and easily make corrections. For more information on implementing schedule compliance, see Infor Workforce Management Schedule Compliance Implementation and Administration Guide.
  • Be very careful when configuring auto-assignment rules to make sure they do not conflict with one another. Conflicting rules can lead to schedule quality problems and avoiding conflicts will give the system the best chance of generating a good schedule.
  • Understand that auto-assignment will create a good schedule and not a "perfect" schedule. You may need to make manual changes to the schedule after schedule generation to suit the needs of your organization.
