Results

9a - Employee does not earn a premium

In this example, the employee worked a 5 hour shift from 13:00 to 18:00:

Work Date Start Time End Time Hours Time Code Hour Type
November 22 13:00 18:00 5 WRK REG

Although the employee worked three hours within the shift premium zone, the employee does not receive a premium because the work ended at 18:00.

9b - Employee earns a premium

In this example, the employee worked an 8 hour shift from 13:00 to 21:00:

Work Date Start Time End Time Hours Time Code Hour Type
November 22 13:00 21:00 8 WRK REG

Since the work ended after 18:00, the employee is awarded a 6 hour premium for the hours worked between 15:00 and 21:00:

Start Time End Time Hours Time Code Hour Type
13:00 21:00 8 WRK REG
15:00 21:00 6 EP PREM

9c - Employee does not earn a premium for overnight shift

In this example, the employee worked an 12 hour shift from 13:00 to 01:00:

Work Date Start Time End Time Hours Time Code Hour Type
November 22 13:00 00:00 11 WRK REG
November 23 00:00 01:00 1 WRK REG

By default, the date from the work detail end time (November 23) is used when comparing the Must End Work On or After Time (18:01) against the work detail end time (01:00). Since the work detail end time (November 23 01:00) is before the Must End Work On or After Time (November 23 18:01), the employee does not qualify for the premium even though the employee worked after 18:00 on November 22.

To address the overnight scenario, configure the Date for End Time parameter to Start Date. With this configuration, the date from the work detail start time (November 22) is used instead. Since the work detail end time (November 23 01:00) is now after the Must End Work On or After Time (November 22 18:01), the employee would qualify for an 8 hour premium for the hours worked between 15:00 and 23:00.
