Claiming requests for shift groups

When managers post multiple shifts with the exact same shift details to the billboard, the shifts are organized as a group. Shift groups are displayed as a single set of shift details when employees view available shifts. For example, a manager posts three identical 9 AM to 5 PM shifts on the same day. Employees that view the available shifts for that day are only shown one set of shift details for the three shifts. The shift details indicate that there are three available shifts with those shift details.

Shift claim requests are always associated with an individual shift, but the system balances shift claim requests between shifts in a shift group. When an employee makes a claim request for a shift in a shift group, the request is automatically associated to one of the shifts that have the least, or no, pending claim requests. This minimizes the number of shifts with multiple claim requests. This is helpful because when a shift claim is accepted, other employees with claim requests on the same shift are notified that their claim request has been rejected.
