Example Configuration

These examples use these configuration settings, unless otherwise noted:

Max Hours Allowed: 10

Enforce Calendar Day Cut: Clear

Example 1 - Violation (long shift)

Employee A is scheduled to work 4 shifts:

  • Monday: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Tuesday: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Thursday 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM

Schedule compliance returns a violation because the employee is scheduled 12 hours on Thursday.

Example 2 - Violation (sum of shifts)

Employee B is scheduled to work 6 shifts:

  • Monday
    • Shift 1- 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
    • Shift 2- 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM

    • Shift 2- 10:00 PM to 2:00 AM
  • Wednesday 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM

  • Monday
    • Shift 1- 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
    • Shift 2- 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM
  • Tuesday
    • Shift 1- 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM
    • Shift 2- 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM
  • Wednesday 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM
  • Thursday 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM).

Schedule compliance returns a violation as 12 hours are attributed to Tuesday because the second shift (10:00 PM to 4:00 AM) starts on Tuesday.

Example 4 - Pass

Employee D is scheduled to work 5 shifts:

  • Monday
    • Shift 1- 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
    • Shift 2- 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM
  • Tuesday 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM
  • Wednesday 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM
  • Thursday 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM

Schedule compliance does not return a violation because the first 8 hours on Wednesday are attributed to Tuesday.

Example 5 - Pass (Enforce Calendar Day Cut enabled)

In this example, Enforce Calendar Day Cut is selected for the schedule compliance group.

Employee E is scheduled to work 2 shifts:

  • Wednesday 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM
  • Thursday 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM

Schedule compliance does not return a violation because the hours after midnight in both shifts are attributed to the next day. From the 12 hour Wednesday shift, only the 4 hours before midnight are attributed to Wednesday. The employee is assigned to 10 hours on Thursday (12:00 AM to 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM to 12:00 AM) and 6 hours on Friday (12:00 AM to 6:00 AM).

Example 6 - Violation (Enforce Calendar Day Cut enabled)

In this example, Enforce Calendar Day Cut is selected for the schedule compliance group.

Employee F is scheduled to work 2 shifts:

  • Wednesday 10:00 PM to 10:00 AM
  • Thursday 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM

Schedule compliance returns a violation because the 10 hours after midnight on the Wednesday shift are attributed to Thursday. When the 2 hours before midnight from the Thursday shift are added, the employee has a total of 12 scheduled hours on Thursday.
