Managing users and security

The list of operational reports that are available from the Birst Reports menu in Infor WFM is based on the security groups defined in WFM. For more information on security groups, see the Infor Workforce Management Time and Attendance Implementation and Administration Guide.

Also within Infor WFM, you can define field-level security for Birst reports. For example, you might make a field editable for the EXECUTIVES security group, view-only for the SUPERVISORS group, and not present for the EMPLOYEES group.

Additional types of application security and user access features are defined in the Birst application.

  • User groups: Ability to create multiple groups with varying rights and privileges. Users are then assigned to these groups.
  • Data-level security: This is handled through the Birst model, which ensures users only see the data they are meant to see.
  • Subject area access through custom subject areas: Ability to craft customized views of attribute columns and measures. This feature is particularly useful in making the application more accessible to business users and restricting access to certain data elements.

To manage access to custom subject areas, see “Creating a custom subject area” in Birst’s online help.
