Birst content update process

The application workflow provisioning process updates your environment with the latest Infor Birst content without overwriting your custom reports and other customizations in your environment.

These are the general steps in the update process:

  1. Create backups by duplicating the consumer and model spaces.

The Birst-Administrator role is needed to duplicate spaces, and the user should be an administrator of the space to be duplicated.

  2. Repoint packages.

The backup consumer space that is pointing to the model space must be repointed to the backup model space. This is required because both consumer and model content will be updated, but the content in the backup consumer space is related to the content in the backup model space.

  3. Optionally, you might need to sync user roles to show the SMD spaces.
  4. Run the SMD WFM Operations Update or Upgrade WFM Operational from SMD workflow.

The workflow might have either name in your tenant, but the steps are same.

Note: If neither workflow exists in your tenant, you can add one.

See Adding an application workflow for content update.

Note: If the update fails for some reason, your reports and dashboards will be unchanged.

We recommend that you keep the backup spaces after the update is successfully completed, in case there is any loss of data due to unforeseen conditions.
