Planning rotations for large units

Large Master Rotations (MRs) or One-time Schedules (OTSs) can have an effect on performance. Having hundreds of rows in the same rotation may cause operations in the MR and OTS edit screen to take a long time to complete. Warning messages are displayed when creating a rotation that may have slow performance. Warning messages are also displayed when opening a large rotation for a date range that is long enough to cause slow performance.

Whenever possible, it is recommended to schedule larger units using multiple smaller rotations. A unit can be scheduled using any number of rotations, including a combination of both MRs and OTSs. Employees can be divided among rotations based on any criteria, such as job or employment type. It is also recommended to divide the requirements for staff coverage into multiple Staffing Requirements Templates, using the same criteria used to divide employees among the rotations.
