Schedule costing and on-call shifts

Different organizations use different formulas for compensating employees for on-call time. Compensation may also be adjusted when on-call employees are called into work. These compensation formulas are typically configured using Time and Attendance pay rules.

See "Compensating on-call employees" in the Infor Workforce Management Multiview Scheduler User Guide for common on-call compensation formulas.

In the MVS scheduling screens, the cost displayed for shifts containing on-call time may differ from the actual cost when the schedule is executed. When the Time and Attendance algorithm is used, costs are adjusted by pay rules based on the on-call activities scheduled. Additional premiums or pay rule adjustments may be made to compensation when on-call employees are called into work. These adjustments would not be accounted for in the schedule cost.

When the MVS algorithm is used, cost for paid on-call activities is calculated based on the hourly rate. The actual cost of the schedule may differ when pay rules are applied to the on-call time. Pay rules may also change the actual cost when on-call employees are called into work.
