Using the Check Boxes

When working with staffing requirement details on the Requirements tab, these options are displayed for each requirement:

w/ req check box
When selected, departments with the requirements retain any modifications upon save.
w/ req link
Specifies the selected departments that have the indicated requirement values. Click the link to view these locations.
w/o req check box
When selected, departments without the requirements receive the modified requirements upon save.
w/o req link
Displays a number sign (#) representing the selected departments that do not have the indicated requirement. Click the link to view these locations.

When you have multiple criteria selected, use these options to make modifications to the staffing requirement details:

  • When you select the w/ req check box for a list item, clear the w/o req check box for the same list item, and save the change, the departments that have the requirement are updated with the new requirement details.
  • When you clear the w/ req check box for a list item, select the w/o req check box for the same list item, and save the change, the departments that did not have the requirement are modified to have it.

You can use both the w/req and w/o req check boxes simultaneously.

Updating large databases

In large environments that have been set up to reuse staffing keys across many departments in different stores, an update to a single requirement or distribution field can, upon save, result in thousands of records being inserted and updated in the database.

The w/ req link for the staffing requirement is indicative of the scale of the update. (That is, a number of 100 could easily translate into a thousand inserts and updates to the database.)

For this reason, a single field update to the staffing requirements may take a few minutes to process in a large environment.
