Defining thresholds

Thresholds define the minimum amount of notice employees must be given when their schedule changes. When a schedule change falls below the threshold, the employee may be due a premium.

  1. Select Maintenance > Schedule Settings > Fair Scheduling > Thresholds.
  2. Click Create New Entry.
  3. Specify this information:
    Name
Specify the name of the threshold.
    Description
Optionally, specify a description for the threshold. This description is displayed to the scheduler when a proposed schedule change would violate this advance-notice threshold.
    Minutes
Specify the minimum advance notice an employee must be given for their employer to avoid having to pay a premium. For example, if employees must be given 24 hours notice, specify a threshold of 1440 minutes.
    Start Date
Select the first date on which the threshold is active.
    End Date
Select the final date on which the threshold is active. If there is no end date, specify 01/01/3000.
    Count Minutes To
    • START OF SHIFT: Counts the minimum advance notice to the actual shift being changed. For example, in the New York City legislation, employees must be given at least 14 days notice before the start of their shift to avoid a potential violation. This is the default.
    • START OF SCHEDULE: Counts the minimum advance notice to the first day of the published or posted schedule regardless of the actual shift being changed. For example, in the Seattle legislation, employees must be given at least 14 days notice before the first day of the schedule to avoid a potential violation.
    • LAST DAY OF SCHEDULE: Counts the minimum advance notice to the last day of the published or posted schedule regardless of the actual shift being changed.
