Security groups

Every user is assigned to a security group, such as supervisor or system administrator. Access to information is limited to the specific parts of the application to which the security group has been assigned permissions.

The security groups are functionally based so users who require access to similar information and areas within the application need to be assigned to the same security group. For example, system administrators who need to be able to modify registry parameters and access configuration mode should all belong to the same security group.

The process of granting and limiting access to users involves:

  1. Creating security groups
  2. Assigning users to security groups
  3. Assigning form, field, and button permissions to security groups
