Creating a prompt page for the Employee parameter

Creating a prompt page for the Employee parameter adds a prompt for the report user to select one or more employees. The report only returns results for employees that the user selects when running the report. The Employee parameter prompt displays the employees' full names and translates the selected names to the corresponding employee key (EMP_ID).

  1. Click Report > Prompt Pages > Prompt Page.
  2. Click Page design.
  3. Click Toolbox under Insertable objects.
  4. Drag the Text item object into the first row of the table.
  5. Specify Employee: in the text box and click OK.
  6. Expand Prompting and then drag the Select & search prompt object into the second row of the table.
  7. In the Prompt Wizard - Select & search prompt pop-up, select the Use existing parameter option and then specify the Employee parameter.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Select the Create new query option and then specify this information:
    Name
    Specify the name of your new query.
    Values to use
    Displays the value for the Employee parameter value that was defined earlier. Leave the default value, which is [Work].[Employee].[EMP_ID].
    Values to display
    Click and select Ad-Hoc Query Layer > Work > Employee > Full Name.
  10. Click Finish.
