Creating ad-hoc shifts using the New Ad Hoc button

You can use the New Ad Hoc button to create a new shift anywhere in the schedule, including for dates or units that are not currently displayed. You can create a new shift for any unit that you have security access to and on any date where schedule edits are allowed. You can specify the shift's labor metrics, UDFs, and flags during the shift creation process.

  1. Load a schedule.
  2. Click New Ad Hoc.
  3. Specify the shift date in the Date field.
  4. Specify the unit for the shift in the Unit field.
  5. Select the Pre-defined Shift option to create a shift from a shift configuration and specify a shift label. Or, select the Simple Shift option to create a shift by specifying the shift times and activity.
    Specify this information if you selected Simple Shift:
    Shift Times
    Specify the start time and end time for the shift.
    Activity
    Specify the work or on-call activity for the shift.
    Break Activity
    Click + to add a break activity to the shift. Then, specify the break activity start time and end time.
    Shift Type
    Specify the shift type.
    Font Colour
    Specify the font color for the shift.
  6. In the Employee field, specify the employee to assign the shift to or leave this field blank to create the shift as an unassigned shift.
  7. Specify the job for the shift in the Job field.
  8. Specify labor metrics for the shift as required. Labor metric fields are enabled by the system administrator during configuration.
  9. Specify UDF or flag values for the shift as required. If specifying values for UDF or flag fields that are different than default values in the configuration of the shift, the Override Shift Configuration check box must be selected. This check box also must be selected when populating UDF and flag values for a new simple shift. UDF and flag fields are enabled by the system administrator during configuration.
  10. Click Add Shift.
    Note: An information message is displayed if the shift you are adding will not be in the currently displayed schedule. You can click OK to confirm the message and add the shift.
The shift is added to the schedule.
