Overriding day parts

Child teams that are using the same shifts as a parent team (via subscription) have the option to use a different day part definition. For example, a parent team can use a 12-hour day part definition, and a child team can use a more granular 6-hour day part definition. You can override the day part associations of a subscribed shift for child teams, yet keep the shift subscription and definition unchanged.

The same shift continues to be available in the child team, but the shift behaves differently from a schedule coverage measurement at the parent team and child team. This difference in coverage measurement can be seen in the Master Rotation, One-time Schedule, Advanced Schedule View, and Staffing Center.

  1. Select Scheduling > Multi-view Scheduler > Advanced Settings > ES Data Definitions > Shift Configuration.
  2. Select a unit and date and click Load.
The shifts that are available for the selected unit and date are displayed.
  3. Click the pencil icon for the shift you want to override the day parts.
  4. Select Override Day Part.
  5. Modify the day parts.
  6. Click Save.
The shift is now associated to day parts that are different from the original day part definition at the parent team.
