Demand planning for schedules

Before creating schedules, you need to plan how many shifts are demanded for each job in each unit. For example, you may need to determine how many RNs are required for each shift in the ER. By planning the number of shifts, you can determine if you are staffing for your requirements.

These tools are available for demand planning:

  • Staffing Requirement Templates: Used to determine the number of staff members required to staff a unit. The staffing requirements are used for the purposes of calculating coverage in the Advanced Schedule View, Master Rotations, and One-time Schedules.

    See Staffing Requirement Templates.

  • Shift templates: Used to generate unassigned shifts to be filled in the Advanced Schedule View or through Self-Scheduling.

    See Shift Templates.
