Coverage for Job Times

An employee can be scheduled to more than one job time, as long as the employee’s shift times are not overlapping. For example, if there are two overlapping job times (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM), both for jobs driving a patrol car, a single employee can only be assigned to one of them because the employee can only drive one car at a time. Hence, the single employee’s coverage can only count towards one of these job times. If an employee is only assigned to part of a job time, the employee’s coverage will also only count for the part of the job time. In addition to this, coverage is only counted if the shift is assigned to a working activity.

Even though job times can overlap, coverage for job times refers only to that specific job time and does not affect the job times, if any, that it overlaps with.

Viewing Job Times Coverage roll-ups

As shown below, coverage is shown for the job level and roll-up coverage at the team and job time level.

Team A - 14/15

  • Job Time: 11a-8p - 5/7
    • Job: Patroller - 2/4
    • Job: Operator - 3/3
  • Job Time: 3p-10p - 9/8
    • Job: Court Security - 4/4
    • Job: Driver - 5/4

If the scheduler were to only view the Team or Job Time roll-up, the coverage status would be misleading. To avoid this, under- and over-staffed numbers are displayed in red, while full coverage numbers are displayed in blue. If the overstaffed and full coverage numbers are not true overstaffing or full coverage (due to understaffing within the job/job time/team), then the numbers are preceded with a red triangle.
