Activating Validation Rules

Before a schedule can be validated, the rules against which it is to be validated must be activated.

To activate validation rules:

  1. Select Scheduling > Schedule Optimization > Schedule Rules.
  2. Click Edit next to the staff group for which you want to enable a validation rule.
    The Manage Schedule Rules page is displayed.
  3. Click Staffing Rules.
    The Staffing Rules page is displayed.
  4. Select the following constraints and preferences, as well as specify the values as necessary, to activate the validation rule(s):
    Rule Required Constraint/Preference
    Availability rule Constraint: Honor employee availability
    Budget rule Select one or both of the following: Constraint: Use location budget methodology Constraint: Do not exceed budget
    Max consecutive days Constraint: Maximum consecutive work days: ___
    Max days per schedule Constraint: Do not assign staff to more than ___ day(s) in schedule
    Max hours per day Select one or both of the following: Constraint: Do not assign staff to more than employee specific max hours The max hours are taken from the max hours per day in the employee settings. For details, see Setting Employee Settings. Constraint: Do not assign staff to more than ___ hour(s) in day NOTE: If both constraints are used, the lower value is used for validation.
    Max hours per schedule Select one or both of the following: Constraint: Do not assign staff to more than employee specific max hours The max hours are taken from the max hours per day in the employee settings. For details, see Setting Employee Settings. Constraint: Do not assign staff to more than ___ hour(s) in schedule NOTE: If both constraints are used, the lower value is used for validation.
    Min hours per schedule Preference: Enforce minimum hours per schedule
    Min hours per shift Constraint: Do not assign staff to less than minimum hours per shift
    Skill rule Constraint: Honor skill requirements
  5. Click Save.
