Publishing in MR and OTS

MR and OTS can be configured to determine the effect of processing the MR or OTS schedule. Processing the schedule either creates the shifts as published or unpublished shifts:

  • Published: After processing the schedule, the shifts are available on MVS schedule screens and on employee timesheets.
  • Unpublished: After processing the schedule, shifts are created in the ASV as unpublished shifts. The shifts only become visible on employee timesheets once they are published from the ASV.

The publishing behavior can be configured separately for MR and OTS. For example, in an organization, schedules created with OTS are expected to require further fine-tuning before shifts are finalized. Schedules created with MRs have less variation and are expected to be published to timesheets as soon as possible.

In such an environment, a separate configuration is required for MR and OTS:

  • MR is configured to create published shifts when processed.
  • OTS is configured to created unpublished shifts when processed.

With this configuration, OTSs generate unpublished shifts that must be published from the ASV, giving the scheduler an opportunity to fine tune the schedule. MRs generate published shifts.

Additional configuration options are available for the MR and OTS publish tasks to configure notifications and how long schedules are generated in the future.
