iOS guided access mode configuration

Note: This procedure is valid and was tested for Safari iOS 14.0.1 and iOS 15.4.1. For more detailed information on guided access mode, refer to your iOS documentation.

This procedure requires a passcode which you should record for future reference.

To enable guided access mode:

  1. Go to Settings > Accessibility and enable Guide Access.
  2. Click Passcode Settings and tap Set Guided Access Passcode.
  3. Enter and confirm the passcode.
  4. You can also enable the Accessibility Shortcut setting. When you triple-click the side button during a guided access session, the Accessibility Shortcut settings are displayed.
  5. To start the guided access session, open the Safari browser and do this:
    • Add the WFM URL to your home screen.
    • Add the links you require to Favorites. In this case it is the WFM URL and the TimeTrack URL (<WFM URL>:8080/timetrack).
    • Triple tap the side button for iPhone X or later or triple tap the Home button for iPhone 8 or later).
  6. Click Guided Access and then tap Start.
The bookmark icon is available to switch between WFM and the TimeTrack clock.
  7. To end the guided access session, click the home/side button three times and then enter the guided access passcode that you recorded earlier.

Some further notes on exiting a guided access session:

  • If the user tries to exit the session, then a message is displayed to the user informing the user to tap the home/side button three times to exit.
  • If you forget your guided access passcode, wait for the device battery to drain completely. After you reboot the device after connecting to power, you are redirected to your home screen.
