Maintenance

This document describes how to receive replacement clocks from Product Support for your Synel SY- 780/A.

Under certain circumstances, the Synel SY-780/A clock can degrade over time. If you have a support agreement with Infor, your clocks will be covered for the period specified in the support agreement.

Note: Clocks that require replacement due to negligence or physical damage may be purchased when necessary. Please contact Infor support for purchase information.

Before sending clocks back for repair or replacement, verify the clock’s condition on your network by performing the following steps:

  1. Simultaneously click the Line up/down keys six times.
  2. In the Technician Mode, the clock’s display screen flashes for a five-second interval and then displays the version information. It then displays the Technician Mode and the time and date alternatively. (The time and date are adjusted from the clock server).
  3. Change the RTC to N.
  4. Set the following parameters:
    Host Baud Rate
    19200
    Fingerprint Unit Baud Rate
    57600 (default)
    Printer Baud Rate
    9600 (default)

Verifying Clock Connectivity to the Host

  1. At the command prompt of the host computer, specify the following:

    C:\> ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of the clock (for example, 192.168.14.12).

  2. One of the following occurs. You will:
    • Receive a reply confirmation message that indicates that the clock reader is connected. For example, Reply from 192.168.14.12: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=64.
    • Not receive a reply confirmation message (for example, a request timed out). If this occurs, check the cables and clock setting and repeat Step 1.
