Configuring the Break Length Validation

The Break Length Validation ensures employees who clock out for a break do not clock again until a sufficient duration of time has passed.

You can configure these validation settings on the Break Length Parameters screen when installing the Clock Server.

To configure the break length validation:

  1. During the installation of the Clock Server, the Break Length Parameters screen is displayed at the Validation Parameters step.
  2. In the Time Code field, enter all the break time codes that require break length validation.

Use a comma-separated list format. For example, BRK,MEAL,COFFEE.

You can also use a semi-colon. For example, BRK;MEAL;COFFEE

  3. In the Break Length (minutes) field, enter the number of minutes for the default time that the employee should remain off work after recording a break swipe.
Note: The system supports multiple break-length validations by time code. See the next steps.
  4. In the Failure Message
  5. Click Next.

The time codes that you specified in the Time Codes field are re-displayed with their own time fields, in the field, specify the format of the validation message.

  6. In the time fields, specify the length of the break time for each time code, as needed.
  7. Click Next to save your configuration and move to the next step of the Clock Server installation.
