Upgrading WBCS

The WBCS can be upgraded to resolve defects or take advantage of new features. To determine whether you can upgrade WBCS using the Upgrade option, the following conditions must be true:

• The newer version of WBCS must not contain any database schema changes. You can verify this in the release notes of the newer release.
• The newer version of WBCS must not contain new configuration properties such that the contents of the conf directory in the WBCS has changed.
• If the first two conditions are met and the changes reflected in the release notes strictly reflect code changes related to fixes or new features, then you can the Upgrade option.

If the above conditions are not true, then you must install a new instance of the WBCS software. Ensure you complete the following before proceeding with this option:

• All existing swipes from the old instance are fully exported to WFM.
• The old instance is shut down so that employee swipes are no longer accepted.
• Install a new instance of the WBCS and apply all the required configuration to the new instance. Set up any new configuration properties as required.
• Start the new instance so that employee swipes are accepted.
