Enabling 4G support using a USB drive

You can enable 4G support on 8000 Series clocks by uploading the APN to the clock using a USB drive. Before completing these steps, you must obtain a SIM card and the APN information from your mobile service provider.

  1. Insert the SIM card into the 4G-supported clock. This requires an 8000 Series clock with a 4G adapter.
  2. Create a file in a text editor with the file name synergyapn.txt.
  3. Specify the APN in the file, and then save the file.
For example, if the APN is infor.apn, the synergyapn.txt file would contain only this text:
    infor.apn
  4. Copy the synergyapn.txt file to the root directory of a USB drive.
  5. Eject the USB drive from your computer, and insert it into the USB port of the clock.
  6. Reboot the clock.
When the clock boots up, a message is displayed that the clock is loading APN settings from the USB drive. 4G connectivity is enabled on the clock once it finishes booting up. The clock will use 4G when a LAN or Wi-Fi connection is not available.
