Enabling 4G support

4G support can be enabled on 8000 Series clocks by installing a SIM card and inputting the APN. Both the SIM card and APN must be obtained from your mobile service provider. This configuration can be performed by customers after they receive the clocks. The configuration steps can also be done by the clock vendor (Synel) if the APN information is provided to the vendor during the purchase of the clocks.

The /etc/apn.txt file contains the APN on the clock file system. This file includes only the APN value as received from the service provider. For example, if the service provider's APN is infor.apn, the apn.txt file would only contain the text infor.apn.

The apn.txt file can be updated using these methods:
  • Insert a USB drive into the clock with the APN information.
  • Use PuTTY to update the /etc/apn.txt file on the clock. This option requires a network connection to the clock.
  • Use the configuration update process to update the /etc/apn.txt file on the clock. This option requires a network connection to the clock.
