This chapter provides information for using the clock.

The WB6000 Series Clock (the clock) are used to record the times that employees start and stop work. The clock uses audio and visual signals to indicate successful or unsuccessful punches. The clock beeps one way for successful punches and another way for unsuccessful punches. Error messages are displayed on the screen for unsuccessful punches. This document also describes how supervisors can perform clock punches on behalf of their employees.

The clock has a numeric keypad, function keys, and a display screen.

The clock does not have a power on or off button. The clock powers on automatically when connected. The clock takes a few moments to power on and automatically connect to the clock server.

The clock buttons can be configured to perform any clock punch. For example, you can use the F3 button to perform job change punches or department change punches. The instructions in this document refer to the buttons by name, such as the Punch In button, not the button’s label on the keypad, such as F1 or F3.

The clock can be setup with different “heads”. These heads allow you to use different methods for identifying employees. For example, a card reader or proximity reader that scans a key fob or badge.

The clock can be connected using either an Ethernet (network) cable or with a modem using a regular phone line cable. If the clock is connected properly and working, the current date and time is displayed on the screen. The screen also displays the message “Select a function”.
