Closing shifts

Closing shifts are shifts that end at the closing time for the scheduled location or that end after closing time, to incorporate work that is performed after closing. When generating schedules, Auto-Assignment identifies closing shifts using the CLOSING shift type. Certain Auto-Assignment rules can be configured to govern the assignment of shifts with the CLOSING shift type. For example, the Minimum Shifts Per Time Period rule can be configured to require that all employees receive at least one closing shift per assignment period.

Note: The CLOSING shift type is only used during the Auto-Assignment process. The CLOSING shift type is not supported for MVS shifts.

The CLOSING shift type is applied to shifts that end at the same time as the closing time configured in the department's hours of operations. This includes when the department has different hours of operation than the parent store. The CLOSING shift type is also applied to shifts that end after the closing time. Shifts can end after closing due to Staff Offsets configured for the location or due to Shift Offsets configured for the staffing requirement that the shift is covering.
