User proxying

The user proxy feature lets users temporarily act as another user. This process involves two users. The original user who grants their permissions in the application to a second user and the second user who is designated the proxy user. The proxy user becomes the original user within the application for a specified period of time. During that time, the proxy user can perform application transactions on the original user’s behalf.

For example:

  1. When Carol takes a one-week vacation, Esther assumes Carol’s application functions by proxying her.
  2. During that week, Esther can view and modify all of Carol’s application transactions, approve and decline requests on Carol’s behalf, and respond to e-mail messages sent to Carol.
  3. At any time during that week, Esther can switch between being herself and being Carol.
  4. When Esther proxies Carol, the Header Bar indicates that Esther is acting as [CAROL]. Esther’s name is underlined to indicate a hyperlink. When Esther clicks on this hyperlink, Esther switches back to Esther’s own page.

User proxying requires:

  1. Granting proxy permissions
  2. Becoming another user
  3. Switching back to yourself
